Veronica Tan Candidate For Minister Prabowo, Here's Ahok's Response

JAKARTA - Former Governor of DKI Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok responded to the presence of his ex-wife, Veronica Tan who was present at the residence of President-elect Prabowo Subianto last night as a ministerial candidate along with dozens of other people.

Ahok did not express his personal views on this matter. Veronica's appointment as a ministerial candidate, according to Ahok, is Prabowo's right as President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029.

"The ministerial election is the prerogative of the president," Ahok said in a short message, Tuesday, October 15.

President-elect Prabowo Subianto summoned the ministerial candidates to his residence on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Monday, October 14. As of Monday night, 49 ministerial candidates have been spoken to privately with Prabowo.

The summons of Prabowo's cabinet ministers took place from day to night. Those summoned came from various backgrounds, such as politicians, academics to businessmen.

Even so, the ministerial candidates who are called are dominated by members of the political parties of the Indonesia Maju coalition (KIM). The duration of the four-eye meeting varies. Some are about three minutes and one hour.

"I summoned ministerial and deputy ministerial candidates some of them. Actually, this process has been going on for a long time, we have discussion monitoring and before I invited them here, they actually said they were willing to help me," Prabowo said on Monday night.

From a number of figures called Prabowo, Veronica Tan's figure is quite interesting. Basuki Tjahja Purnama alias Ahok's ex-wife admitted that she was offered to be one of the ministers in the new cabinet.

He did not want to divulge what position Prabowo offered. He was only asked to help the community, especially women and children.

In the Jokowi era, the affairs of women and children were managed by the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA).

"I'm still waiting for the president to announce it. Together we help the community, maybe mothers, children, so I said yes, sir," said Veronica after meeting Prabowo.
