Ciliwung River Overflows, 2 RWs In Kampung Melayu Flood

JAKARTA - Heavy rains that flushed the city of Bogor and parts of the area in Jakarta caused the Ciliwung River in the Kampung Melayu area, RT 11/5 and RT 13/4, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta, to overflow again on Tuesday, October 15.

The overflow of water from the Ciliwung River that passes through the Kampung Melayu area causes flooding in a number of residents' houses to be as high as 75 cm.

Dozens of houses on the banks of the Ciliwung river were submerged and residents' activities disrupted.

Although the puddle is as high as an adult's chest, no local residents have decided to evacuate.

Residents still survive in their flooded houses.

In addition, a number of school students were also seen crossing the flood while being carried by their parents so they could go to school. Access to residents' houses isolated due to flooding.

According to Hasanah, a local resident, the flood also submerged his place of merchandise. Even though it was flooded, Hasanah did not stop Hasanah from looking for fortune.

"Hopefully the government can overcome the floods that always inundate residential areas," he told reporters.
