Perpetrators Of Robbery And Persecution Of Elderly In Tanjungpinang, Introductory Mode Of Package Arrested By Police

TANJUNGPINANG - Tanjungpinang Police, Riau Islands (Kepri), arrested a robber of an elderly woman (elderly).

Tanjungpinang Police Chief Kombes Budi Santosa said the perpetrator of the robbery with the initials Rs (31), a student, was arrested by the Satreskrim ranks in the Jalan Karet area, Tanjung Ayun Sakti Village, Friday, October 11.

"The arrest of the perpetrators is based on an investigation conducted by our staff assisted by information from the public," said the Tanjungpinang Police Chief as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 14.

The police chief explained that the modus operandi of the perpetrator Rs initially went to the house of the elderly victim with the initials M (71 years) in Gang Pulau Pandan, Jalan Raja Haji Fisabilillah, Tanjungpinang, on August 21.

At the time of the incident, the elderly victim with the initials M (71 years old) was at home alone.

The perpetrator pretended to be a package delivery man, then after opening the door by the victim, suddenly the perpetrator immediately took the jewelry used by the victim, including the cellphone.

Not only that, the perpetrator also hit the victim's eyes and lips many times, until the victim was helpless and battered. The perpetrator then fled while carrying bracelet jewelry and gold necklaces, as well as cell phones.

Due to this incident, the victim suffered physical losses of around Rp. 17 million - Rp. 20 million.

"From the results of the police investigation, the reason the perpetrator committed the act was because he was playing online and got married," said the Police Chief.

For his actions, the suspect Rs was charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code concerning Violent Theft with a maximum penalty of 9 years in prison.

The perpetrator has been detained in the Tanjungpinang Police Headquarters detention cell for further legal proceedings.
