Jokowi Asks MPR To Succeed In Prabowo-Gibran's Inauguration

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo advised the leadership of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly to hold an agenda for the inauguration of the president and vice president on October 20, 2024, successfully because the event was attended by important guests or VVIP.

The message was conveyed by MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday (14/10), after inviting President Jokowi to attend the inauguration agenda.

"He hopes that the inauguration will take place successfully because this is a celebration that will be attended by many VVIPs, both friendly countries and neighboring countries," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

In a meeting of about an hour at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Muzani together with eight deputy chairmen of the MPR appreciated Jokowi's decade-long leadership, especially the national leadership transition that went well and smoothly.

Muzani said the situation should be an example to be imitated in the next similar procession.

"Because this is a successful procession that we consider the MPR leadership to be running quite well, from the old president to the new president. We consider this to be an example and a prototype that can be imitated by the next processions," he said.

In addition, Muzani also reported to President Jokowi that preparations for the inauguration had reached 90 percent complete and the majority of invited guests confirmed their attendance.

Previously, the MPR invited a number of important guests in the inauguration procession of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President GibranRakabuming Raka at the Nusantara building, MPR/DPR, Jakarta, on October 20, 2024 at 10.00 WIB.

In addition to being directly attended by President Jokowi, the MPR also invited former president and family representatives to heads of state in the ASEAN region and ASEAN partners.

Specifically for the neighboring head of state, the MPR is still waiting for the results of the confirmation inventory to come from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu).

In addition, the contestants for the 2024 presidential election were also invited, namely Anies Baswedan, Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo, and Mahfud MD.

After submitting the invitation to Jokowi, the next MPR leadership met with Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the Vice President's Office, Jakarta, at around 16.00 WIB.

Based on the agenda received by ANTARA, a meeting between the leaders of the MPR and Gibran will be held at a restaurant in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, at around 18.30 WIB.
