Regarding The Stopping Of The Supra GR Model, Toyota: That's Not True!

JAKARTA - The puzzle about the fate of the GR Supra model has been answered. Toyota ensures that this sports car will not be stopped and will be available next generation in the coming years.

Australian Toyota Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley, confirmed that this car will have its next generation and denied that GR Supra would be put to death.

"It's just speculation, we emphasize that Supra is not a model that will be laid off," Hanley said as quoted by Drive, Monday, October 14.

Unfortunately, he did not want to mention the birth time of his latest generation. However, Hanley ensured that GR Supra would still exist for the next few years.

Many people are asking about the timing of the launch. When the new model was launched, we had started thinking about the next model. So, you guys have to wait when the newest generation will be present," added Hanley.

This also refuted the news that GR Supra would follow in the footsteps of the BMW Z4 that would be put to death. Reportedly the termination of production of these two models as a result of the problems faced by Magna Steyr, the factory that produced these two models in Austria. It is noted that the company has dismissed about 500 employees at Graz.

The steps taken by Magna Steyr must be taken because a number of their homemade models such as BMW Series-5, Jaguar E-Face and I-Face, and Fisker Ocean are coming to an end.

Nevertheless, Toyota is evaluating various possibilities so that this iconic model can survive in the market. One of the steps to be taken is to build your own chassis.

Developed by the high performance division of Gazoo Racing (GR), the model was built on the same platform as BMW Z4. GR Supra is also a successor to the fourth generation whose production was stopped in 2002.

Currently, this sports car is equipped with a 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine supplied from BMW, making it one of the most powerful Toyota production cars in the modern era.
