The Electability Of The Dendi Suryadi-Alif Turiadi Superior In The Kukar Pilkada Survey

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Election Study Institute (LKPI) conducted a survey related to the electability of the candidate pairs for regent and deputy regent in the Kutai Kartanegara Regional Election (Kukar), East Kalimantan. The results of the survey show that the electability of the Dendi Suryadi and Alif Turiadi pairs is superior to other candidates.

"The couple's electability reached 54.7 percent, making it the leader in the survey. Meanwhile, the pair Edi Damansyah and Rendi Solihin, who are incumbents, only received 26.6 percent electability," said LKPI Executive Director, Togu Lubis in his statement, Saturday, October 12.

"Then the independent pair Awang Yacoub Luthman and Ahmad Zais got 2.6 percent electability, and 16.1 percent of respondents did not provide answers," he continued.

Togu continued, to explore the public's preferences further, the survey also involved a questionnaire that included the names and pictures of the three pairs of candidates. Respondents, he said, were asked to state their choice if the Pilkada was held today.

"The results of the data tabulation show that the pair Dendi Suryadi and Alif Turiadi were chosen by 60.8 percent of respondents, while the pair Edi Damansyah and Rendi Solihin were chosen at 31.4 percent. Awang Yacoub and Ahmad Zais were chosen at 3.1 percent, while 4.7 percent of respondents said they did not vote," he explained.

Regarding the level of preference, said Togu, the survey showed that the Dendi-Alif pair got 78.8 percent. The pair Edi-Rendi 51.9 percent, and Yacoub-Ahmad 29.6 percent.

"The high level of preference for the Dendi-Alif pair indicates that they are considered candidates that are preferred by the community," said Togu.

The survey noted that Edi Darmansyah's low electability rate was due to 71.8 percent of Kukar's people being dissatisfied with his leadership for two terms. The survey findings show that 81.6 percent of Kukar's people think Edi Damansyah and Rendi Solihin failed to build the agricultural sector.

Then around 69.7 percent of the community revealed the difficulties in obtaining fuel oil (BBM) needed for agricultural equipment, in addition to experiencing limited supply of fertilizers and agricultural equipment.

"These problems are important factors that influence people's perceptions of the performance of local governments," said Togu.

Togu also detailed that the high electability of the Dendi Suryadi and Alif Turiadi couple was influenced by several factors. First, the level of community preference which reached 78.8 percent. Second, as many as 70.2 percent of the people of Kutai Kartanegara hope that there will be new leaders who can bring change.

"These two factors are strong reasons that underlie the high electability of the Dendi Suryadi and Alif Turiadi pairs," concluded Togu.

The LKPI survey was conducted in the period 27 September - 9 October 2024 through face-to-face interviews using a questionnaire that had been systematically compiled.

The number of samples involved in this survey reached 1,400 respondents, spread across 18 sub-districts in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, using the Multistage Random Sampling method.

This survey has a margin of error of up to 2.62 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
