The 2025 Met Gala Brings The Theme Of Tailoring Black Style, Given The History Of Black People Challenging Social Limits

JAKARTA - Every year the Met Gala, which is a world famous fashion event, is held with different themes every year. In 2025, the Met Gala will carry the theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

Superfine: This Tailoring Black Style not only discusses fashion aesthetics, but also discusses the early culture and history of black dandyism, which began in Europe in the 18th century. Dandyism is a way for black men to show identity and challenge curbed social restrictions.

Reporting from the New York Post, with this theme, it is hoped that the public will see how clothes and styles play an important role in shaping black diaspora from the past to the present, through the clothes worn by invited guests.

The selection of the theme of the 2025 Met Gala was also inspired by Monica L. Miller's book, entitled 'Sslaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Style of Black Diasporic Identity'. This event will feature a collection of fashion archives, works of art, to pieces of a long journey film from dandyism.

At the 2025 Met Gala segment, LeBron James has been appointed as chairman of honor. The joint chairman will include Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharell Williams, and Anna Wintour.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Met Gala will be held on May 5, 2025, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Museum visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the Superfine exhibition from May 6 to October 26, 2025.
