Prabowo Reportedly Will Break The Ministry Of PUPR, Housing Problems Can Be Overcome?

President-elect Prabowo Subianto is rumored to be breaking the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) into two ministries, namely the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Housing.

For your information, the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Housing were initially separated during the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY)'s administration. Then in the era of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the two ministries were merged into the Ministry of PUPR.

Responding to this, property observer Anton Sitorus admitted that he agreed with the ministry's plan to separate. According to him, solving housing problems in Indonesia can be more focused on being handled if the Ministry of Housing stands alone.

"But at least it has given directions that the government's focus on housing will be bigger than before," he said in a discussion on Strengthening SOEs Towards Golden Indonesia in Sarinah, Jakarta, Thursday, October 10.

In addition, according to Anton, Prabowo's move to return the Ministry of Public Works to stand alone is also more effective. Moreover, previously these two ministries were indeed separated.

"If I say it's better, because at first it was separated between PU and housing. So if for example it is reversed like it used to be, I think it's better and more effective," he explained.

Based on Susenas data, continued Anton, the number of new house backlogs in Indonesia reached 10 million units, and the number of underinhabitable houses reached 27 million units. Thus, it is estimated that the housing needs reach 1.5 million per year until 2045.

According to Anton, in overcoming housing problems, it will certainly depend heavily on the programs carried by the Prabowo-Gibran government.

"So about whether or not it can depend on what the program will be like," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the Chairperson of the Presidential Task Force (Satgas) Prabowo Subianto, namely Hashim Djojohadikusumo, revealed that the three million house construction program was a target in a year, so that one government period for 5 years could have 15 million houses built.

"Not three million (one government period). We want to build three million houses every year," said Hashim as quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 10.

Thus, he continued, there will be 15 million houses in the five-year period of government. One period (government) is 15 million housing units," he said.

Hashim said the three million house construction program every year consists of the construction of 1 million apartments in urban areas per year and two million housing units in rural areas per year.

"The target is one million (apartments) in urban areas every year, and 2 million houses in rural areas every year," he said.
