Swedish Police Investigate Shooting At Israeli Company, Perpetrator Dozens Of Years Of Youth

JAKARTA - Swedish police are investigating a shooting near Israel's target in the city of Gothenburg, an Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems unit.

There were no reports of injuries, police said. A spokesman for the Swedish Elbit Systems declined to comment.

A suspect was arrested at the scene and an initial investigation into the alleged attempted murder and weapons crime is being carried out.

The suspect is under 15, reports a public broadcaster SVT and other Swedish media, citing unnamed sources.

A police spokesman said so far there was only one suspect and investigators were unaware of any real threat to Israel's other targets in the Gothenburg region of southern Sweden.

Swedish police in May said it had stepped up security around the interests of Israel and Jews in the Nordic country after officers patrolling heard alleged gunshots near the Israeli embassy in Stockholm.

A police spokesman declined to comment on whether Elbit was believed to be a target. The Israeli Embassy in Stockholm did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
