Lestarikan Budaya Dan Wastra Nusantara, Pekot Pekalongan Gelar Batik Night Carnival 2024
JAKARTA - Preservation of the culture and wastra Nusantara requires the participation of many parties. As is done, the Pekalongan City Government, Central Java, held a Batik Night Carnival exhibition held in the Jetayu Cultural Area on October 11, 2024.
Head of the Pekalongan City Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Office Sabaryo Pramono in Pekalongan, Thursday, said that with the theme "The Economy of Cahya Bhumi City", his party will highlight the beauty of batik in the four continents of the world.
"This carnival theme means that Batik Pekalongan is a "Light", a symbol of a bright spot in social life which is a source of livelihood, freedom, hope, and a tradition full of stories," he said, as quoted by Antara.
According to him, Batik Pekalongan is considered a masterpiece capable of being transformed into world culture and traditions and is a reflection of the full journey of meaning from time to time.
Through the exploration of beauty and diversity from four Asian Continents plus Australia, Europe, America and Africa, he said, Batik Pekalongan was able to present an extraordinary work of art.

"Preparations for the success of the event have been carried out carefully. The carnival participants will appear with various costumes that highlight the creativity and uniqueness of batik motifs," he said.
Sabaryo said that until the closing of registration, there were 37 participants consisting of eight elementary schools, 10 junior high schools, five high schools, and 14 participants from the general category would enliven the event.
In addition, he said, the Batik Night Carnaval 2024 activity will also be attended by a number of regional apparatus organizations that will feature various unique batik costumes.
He said the Batik Night Carnival was a relevant event to showcase the charm of Pekalongan's batik collaboration with world culture.
"The city of Pekalongan, which is already known as part of the World Creative City network, has made this carnival a stage to show the existence of batik in the eyes of the international community," he said.
According to him, 70 percent of all carnival participant costumes must use written batik or stamps with typical Pekalongan motifs such as Jlamprang, Buketan, Tiga Negeri, Liris, and Benji.
"The other 30 percent of costumes are allowed to use supporting materials. Participants are also allowed to add lighting elements to costumes and are required to make a brief description of the costume themes worn," he said.
