Electric Van Car With New Architecture Mercedes-Benz Successfully Tested Road, Ready To Launch In 2026

JAKARTA - Recently, Mercedes-Benz announced that it had developed a prototype electric van. This is the next step in expanding electric vehicles (EVs) in various segments.

Written on the brand's official website, Wednesday, October 9, this model will use the new platform VAN.EA (Mercedes-Benz Van Electric Architecture). The manufacturer says vans with this basis have advanced technology with good distance.

This prototype is successfully running and is currently being tested on public roads, showing a milestone in applying this latest platform.

The manufacturer tested this model from Stuttgart, Germany to North Cape, Norway in early June 2024. The vehicle was built specifically to test chassis, powertrain electricity, batteries, and high-voltage components.

Mercedes-Benz also tested the model in various conditions, including in cold temperatures as it passed Sweden.

The van can meet a variety of customer needs, available in front-wheel drive (FWD) or 4x4 (4WD) configurations. The vehicle that carries this platform is equipped with the latest version of MB.OS, an operating system developed by Mercedes-Benz.

This car is also compatible with a variety of charging systems, including a more powerful AC 22 kW. This architecture has an 800V charging system that allows it to charge energy quickly and efficiently.

The platform allows for significant differences between private van and commercial van segments in the premium segment. In the private sector, its portfolio will range from family vans, exclusive VIP transport, to luxury and widespread limousines for customers with the highest demand.

Unfortunately, information about the distance and performance is still a mystery. However, Mercedes-Benz announced the van with the VAN platform. The EA will launch from 2026.
