The Extension Of The IUPK Has Not Been Completed, Freeport Boss Gives A Signal Continued To The Prabowo Government
JAKARTA - The extension of the Special Mining Business Permit (IUPK) of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is expected to be decided in the government of Elected President Prabowo Subianto. Just so you know, PTFI's IUPK will end in 2041.
President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, Tony Wenas said, in fact, until now the discussion on the extension of the IUPK is still ongoing between PTFI and the government, while the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will end on October 20.
"Still in discussion. I don't know (continued in the next government). Just ask the government!" he said in Jakarta quoted Wednesday, October 9.
However, Tony hopes that the extension of the IUPK is still in accordance with applicable regulations, one of which is adjusted to the age of mining and the number of reserves available.
"Anyway, the current government or the government will continue," Tony continued.

Previously, Jokowi said that until now the process of negotiating the divestment of 10 percent of PTFI's shares as a condition for the extension of the IUPK was still ongoing. Regarding ongoing negotiations, Jokowi handed over the matter to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia.
Jokowi admitted that he had asked Bahlil to speed up the negotiation process because PTFI already had the smelter which was just inaugurated today.
"But I ask that it be cleared as soon as possible. Because the smelter has also been completed, and this belongs to Indonesia," said Jokowi.
