Visiting The PBNU Headquarters, The Grand Imam Of The Prophet's Mosque Hopes That RI-Saudi Cooperation Will Get Closer

JAKARTA - The Grand Imam of the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Ahmad bin Ali Al-Hudhaify, visited the Head Office of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board in Jakarta.

"I pray that Allah will protect this country, as well as provide security and comfort, and also help Muslim brothers and sisters and Muslims in this country," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf said, during this visit, the Grand Imam of the Prophet's Mosque expressed his appreciation for the steps and initiatives of PBNU both domestically and internationally, related to the development of da'wah, scientific development, and efforts for world peace.

"He hopes that later there will be closer cooperation between the Indonesian government and Saudi Arabia, as well as with NU," he said.

According to Gus Yahya, his nickname, there is a very strong desire both from the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Islamic institutions there to strengthen relations and cooperation with Indonesia.

He said that in the future there will be more intensive communication between these parties, related to opportunities for increased relations and cooperation to be carried out.

"Of course we are very open, because we always consider Saudi Arabia as the most important Islamic country, and they are servants of two holy places. So, there is no initiative in the Islamic world that is running effectively without Saudis," said Gus Yahya.
