Maarten Paes Is Still Taken To Bahrain, Indonesian National Team Doctors Will Handle Further Treatment

JAKARTA - Maarten Paes continues to join the Indonesian national team in Bahrain even though he is reportedly recovering from his injury at his club, FC Dallas.

The Indonesian national team manager, Sumardji, said that so far his party has continued to communicate with FC Dallas regarding the recovery of Paes' wrist injury.

Therefore, Maarten Paes is still being flown to Bahrain and will be handled by Indonesian national team doctors for further recovery.

Sumarjdi said the team was now waiting for the goalkeeper's arrival.

"Maarten Paes (coming) tomorrow afternoon (October 9, 2024 local time. At around 14:40 it will arrive in Bahrain."

"However, earlier we asked the team doctor (FC Dallas) to coordinate and check the latest conditions before flying. If the condition, the condition is getting better day by day," said Sumardji on the sidelines of the second training session of the Indonesian national team in Bahrain, Monday, October 8, 2024.

Arriving in Bahrain, Paes will undergo further examination with the team doctor. This is an important examination to determine the availability of Paes in the match versus Bahrain later.

"After all, tomorrow when Maarten arrives, the doctor will immediately check what the current condition looks like. After that, we can see if it can be played or not," said Sumardji.

Maarten Paes is expected to play in the third match of the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification against Bahrain at the Bahrain National Stadium, Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 23.00 WIB.
