2024 Junior World Championships: Mutiara Smoothly In The First Match

JAKARTA The Indonesian women's singles badminton player, Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari, went through her first match at the 2024 Junior World Championships smoothly to reach the third round.

The 18-year-old athlete, who got an empty draw in the first half, continued her journey after winning over Singapore's singles, Chia Xin Ying, with a score of 21-15 and 21-15 at the Nanchang International Sports Center Gymnasium, China, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, afternoon WIB.

This victory did not make the sixth seed satisfied with his appearance. He admitted that there are still many sides that must be evaluated to face the next match.

"Overall, there are still a lot of things that need to be evaluated. Today I still made a lot of mistakes myself, the ball that shouldn't have died died," he said.

Mutiara explained that in this match there were many variations that she wanted to do that actually harmed her. In fact, he had adapted to the field while playing in the mixed team last week.

"I have to improve the quality of the punches again in the next match," said Mutiara.

Mutiara was previously included in the Indonesian squad that won the 2024 Mixed Team Junior World Championships last weekend after defeating the host China in the final.

This year's edition is his third appearance at the mixed team junior event. He had previously defended Indonesia in the 2022 and 2023 editions.

On those two occasions, Indonesia successively finished as a semifinalist and runner-up. This achievement made this year's title special for Mutiara because it was the last chance she played at the junior level.

Mutiara's victory was then followed by another women's singles representative, Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi. Dhinda won over Romania's representatives, Denisa-Maria Mustalu, two straight games 21-4 and 21-6.

In addition to the two names, the victory was also secured by Sausan Dwi Ramadhani and Kavitha Nadjwa Aulia.
