JAKARTA - Every new period of the DPR, the presence of celebrities or celebrities in Senayan has always been a public concern. The public is waiting for proof of the quality of the artists as representatives of the people.

In the 2024-2029 DPR period, there were at least 24 celebrities who were officially inaugurated as members of the total council of 580 members of the DPR. For example, such as the frontman of the Band Dewa, Ahmad Dhani, comedian Denny Cagur, presenter Uya Kuya, as well as a number of singers including Once Mekel, Nafa Urbach, Melly Goeslaw, Iyeth Bustami, to young actor Verrell Bramasta.

A number of these celebrities expressed their hopes and commitments in their new duties as representatives of the people. They conveyed the commitment after the inauguration as members of the DPR last week.

One of them is Once Mekel, who won 47,896 votes during the 2024 Legislative Election. He emphasized that he was ready to devote himself to work for the people.

"My hope is that in the next 5 years, I can really carry out my duties (which are quite difficult, yes) for the people of Indonesia," said Once.

The legislator from the DKI Jakarta II electoral district stated that it was still necessary to map what problems the people had to solve within the next five years. Although he did not know which board equipment (AKD) he would place in, Once said he had several special issues that he would oversee.

"First, we have to make sure that the educational facilities, health provided by the government, which has become a program, are really right on target," he explained.

"Also in the creative and cultural industrial fields that I want to fight for, everything will get better," added Once.

As a musician, Once ensures that he will fight for the future of the Indonesian music world. This includes ensuring that regulations support the works of musicians whose copyright protection is still often neglected. This is increasingly important in the midst of technological advances that threaten creativity with AI (Artificial Intelligence) or artificial intelligence.

"Of course, later we will discuss how in the future the copyright-related rules, especially with the new AI technology, which we have to rethink how to regulate, so as not to erode the creativity of the nation's children," said Once.

In line with Once, singer Nafa Urbach, who is the first time in the council, admitted that she will prove that she can be useful for the community through this legislative institution. The creative industry and education are in his spotlight so he hopes to be placed in Commission X of the DPR in charge of the two issues.

"Probably in Commission X. Education and creative economy because I am indeed in the fields of culture and art as well, so we will bring the (issues)," explained Nafa at the same moment.

Nafa also hopes that DPR members for the period 2024-2029 can carry out their mandate by carrying out their legislative, budget and supervision functions as well as possible.

"What is certain is that it can be even better, and hopefully it can produce quality laws in the future and be useful for the community," said the DPR member from the Central Java VI electoral district.

On the other hand, Pasha Ungu, whose full name is Sigit Purnomo Said, has previously carried out the mandate within the scope of state bureaucrats. He is the Deputy Mayor of Palu during his leadership in 2026-2021.

Therefore, Pasha already has experience working in state institutions. With his new position as a member of the DPR, he also ensured that he would oversee the aspirations of the community.

"We focus on our function, ensuring that we guard the aspirations of the community," said Pasha, who qualified for Senayan from the DKI Jakarta III electoral district.
