Gervonta Davis To Duel With Lamont Roach Jr

JAKARTA Boxer from the United States, Gervonta Davis, will enter the ring defending his WBA lightweight title against his compatriot, Lamont Roach Jr.

The fight between the two boxers is scheduled to take place on December 14, 2024 at the Toyota Center, Houston, Texas, United States.

This assurance was revealed by Premier Boxing Champions through their official X account. The account posted a poster containing the announcement of the place and date of the two fighters fighting.

A day later Davis also posted the fight poster on his personal social media, but he removed the poster.

"I'm against everyone," wrote the fighter accompanying the poster as reported by Boxing Scene.

Davis, 29, was recorded to have stopped Frank Martin in June 2024, which is his only duel so far in the 2024 calendar.

Before that, he defeated Ryan Garcia in his biggest fight in 2023 at the T-Mobile Arena. In the last two duels, he all managed to win by knockout (KO).

After that, there was speculation surrounding his duel against IBF champion Vasiliy Lomachenko in the unification contest. However, WBA instead agreed to win their super featherweight Roach.

Roach, who is also 29 years old with a record (25-1-1, 10 KOs), will automatically advance one class to lightweight to challenge Davis. This is Roach's chance to win titles in two different classes.

Davis's main rival in the division, Shakur Stevenson, recently signed a contract with Matchroom, whose promoter is Eddie Hearn.

Shakur himself has plans to play with Davis. However, he wants to get into the ring after arranging the fight with William Zepeda in 2025.
