Serang Bawaslu Calls 10 Village Heads Allegedly Supporting Banten Pilkada Candidates

JAKARTA - The Serang Regency Bawaslu summoned 10 village heads (kades) from Mancak District who were suspected of violating neutrality for declaring support for one of the candidate pairs participating in the 2024 Banten Pilkada.

The head of the Serang Regency Bawaslu, Furqon, said that his party had investigated the village head who was suspected of violating the neutrality.

"We have called all of them, a total of 10 village heads. There is one village whose village head is not present. But even though they are not present, we will continue the summoning process," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 7.

According to Furqon, in addition to examining 10 village heads as reported, his party has also summoned witnesses and reporters for questioning.

"The results of all the clarifications, starting from witness statements, we will discuss everything with Gakkumdu. The plenary maximum is tomorrow or Wednesday," he said.

Furqon said the village heads were examined starting at 10.00-17.00 WIB.

"If proven to have violated, the village heads can be subject to criminal provisions. If it is not proven, it must be dismissed. If the administration we will hand it over to the regent. Later, the regent will give both verbal and written sanctions," he said.

Meanwhile, Daddy Hartadi as the attorney for 10 village heads revealed that the village heads in Mancak District were examined alternately one by one by Bawaslu.

"Maraton was examined one by one by the village head and has given the true information, the information that was experienced, known, was heard directly by the village head," he said.

Daddy said the alleged reports to the 10 village heads did not meet the formal and material requirements.

According to him, the video was made long before the KPU's determination of the candidate on September 22 and before there was a serial number draw.

"The video was also made because of the spontaneity of the village heads who considered that they had the same vision as the village heads. Actually they didn't mention saying they supported them, but said they agreed with the candidate pair's vision," he said.
