Gold Robbery Of IDR 366 Million In Malaysia, Defendant Threatened With Dismissal Of Prosecutor's Indictment

JAKARTA - A laborer in Malaysia rejected all charges filed by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) in the alleged robbery case worth RM100,000 or around Rp366 million.

Quoting Bernama, this was said by the defendant Mohd Zafrizar Ibrahim, 48, in his pledoi session which was held in Malaysia today, Monday, October 7.

Defendant Zafrizar and his still fugitive partner were charged with robbing the victim's house in Bunut Payong National School Lorong, Malaysia on January 12 in the morning.

The two defendants were suspected of robbery of gold belonging to Hasni Mat Suji, 56, consisting of two bracelets and a necklace worth Rp366 million.

The prosecutor framed the indictment based on Article 395/397 of the Malaysian Criminal Code which was read together with Article 34 of the same law.

The two defendants face a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and caning if found guilty.

In this case, the Public Prosecutor did not provide an opportunity for the defendant to apply for a guarantee of suspension of detention.
