Turkey's Latest Combat Drone Anka-3 Perdana Appears In Public, Capable Of Carrying Bunker Bombs

JAKARTA - Turkey's first drone with flying wings capable of attack and penetration Anka-3 made its first public debut in the Teknofest last Thursday.

Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Anka-3 flew together with domestically advanced jet trainers TAI, H\"urjet and basic training aircraft H\"urk\"ie.

This is the third member of the TAI-made Anka drone family and offers several advantages such as low radar visibility, high speed thanks to its jet engine and large load capacity, quoted from Daily Sabah Oct. 4.

This unmanned combat aerial vehicle with a turbofan engine without Turkey's first vertical tail is expected to be able to fly at an altitude of up to 40,000 feet and stay flying for up to 10 hours at an altitude of 30,000 feet.

This drone has neither horizontal nor vertical tails, a design officials say will allow it to operate quietly undetected. The drone will also have high-speed transfer capabilities, which will allow rapid deployment to remote areas.

This drone will have a maximum takeoff weight of 6,500 kilograms (14,330.05 pounds) and a practical payload capacity of 1,200 kilograms.

Later, Anka-3 will be able to carry out various missions such as reconnaissance, surveillance to intelligence, with air-ground ammunition, air-to-air ammunition and radar systems.

In addition, the drone will be able to perform many tasks such as operations and communication relays together with other friendly elements.

Anka-3 capacity will allow the integration of various weapons options, ranging from ammunition commonly used in current UAVs to larger ammunition such as SOM-J, MK-82 to bunker-destroying bombs.

Although the work started in 2022, the drone managed to complete its inaugural flight in December 2023.
