Shootout, Indian Troops Kill 28 Rebels
JAKARTA - Indian security forces killed 28 suspected insurgents Maois in a shootout in the state of Chhattisgarh.
Police are conducting searches in areas bordering the Narayanpur and Dantewada districts when clashes between officers and suspected rebels occurred.
The rebels adhere to the communist ideology spread by the late Chinese leader Mao Zedong, and have launched guerrilla attacks on governments, especially in central and eastern India, for decades.
This causes periodic clashes and casualties on both sides
The police did not specify whether there were any casualties among their ranks in this shootout.
