Can Damage Markets, Kemenkop UKM Ensures Singles Of The Metemic Application Not Entering The Republic Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) is trying to prevent shopping applications from China, Temu, from entering Indonesia because it can damage the market.

This effort will be carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) and the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag).

Acting (Plt) Deputy for SMEs at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Temmy Satya Permana, said that this application has tremendous potential threats because it can supply products directly from the factory. Temmy had opened the application and saw that the goods sold there had the potential to damage the Indonesian market.

"It's a bit scary, isn't it, if you can really sell it directly to consumers," Temmy said at a press conference at the Kemenkop UKM office, Jakarta, Thursday, October 3.

Temmy also sees that there is a website or website similar to Temu which has the potential to threaten the Indonesian market, namely Titip Beli.

He considered that the application was a mode launched by individuals to facilitate the purchase of goods from abroad to Indonesia.

"After yesterday we closed the cross border above 100 US dollars, it appeared a mode of deposit. On the website, they will buy the items we ordered, sent from Singapore at a low cost," he said.

He did not deny that there were indeed many purchase modes like that.

However, Temmy ensured that this would be addressed by the government through the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 31 of 2023 concerning Business Licensing, Advertising, Guidance, and Supervision of Business actors in Trade Through Electronic Systems.

"That it is indeed a protection for local products, controlling foreign products that sell here," he said.

Furthermore, Temmy will also encourage the implementation of Permendag 31/2023 with the Ministry of Trade to patrol. This is done in order to avoid the entry of items from the Temu and Titip Beli applications into Indonesia.

"Indeed, the traffic is not too worrying. Later, of course, we will investigate specifically regarding this," he said.

According to Temmy, with a total of 113 million TikTok users in Indonesia, the government must be even tighter to monitor this.

"The spirit is one, really, we want local products, SMEs and large Indonesian businesses to host in our own country. There should be no flat capital that keeps coming out by buying foreign products actually," he said.
