Prince William Participates In Celebration To Celebrate Aston Villa's Victory Over Bayern Munich

JAKARTA - Aston Villa appeared surprising in the 2024/2025 Champions League. After winning three points in the first match against Young Boys (3-0), The Villans won again to host a strong team, Bayern Munich, at Villa Park, Thursday, October 3, 2024, early morning WIB.

Interestingly, the party was also witnessed by Prince William from the Villa Park stands.

Prince William joined in welcoming Jhon Jader Duran's goal in the 79th minute. After the match when Villa confirmed the victory, he also rejoiced.

The full support for Aston Villa made him run out of votes. Prince William could not stop shouting happily to welcome the results.

You see, the victory over Munich is history for The Villans. It has been 42 years since Villa have beaten FC Hollywood.

The last win over Munich came in the 1982 Champions League final (formerly called the European Cup). At that time, Villa managed to win after beating The Bavaria 1-0 through Peter Withe's single goal.

"My voice is missing. I can't believe it, 42 years old," said Prince William when interviewed on television.

The Aston Villa vs Bayern Munich match was tense. The host public was silent when Pau Torres scored a goal.

However, the referee disallowed the goal because the Spaniard was offside first.

Jhon Duran then became the winner when he continued his role as a supersub. His goal in the 79th minute was his fifth goal after entering the bench this season.

Meanwhile, after Prince William's match had the opportunity to talk to Villa legends and even approach their only Champions League trophy in their storefront.

In honor, the players posed with a football shirt including a T-shirt bearing the name of former striker Gary Shaw.

The football legend died earlier this month at the age of 63.

"The last time Aston Villa won in the top European tournament was a month before I was born."

"Hopefully tonight is the first step towards another European adventure!"

"My thoughts tonight are also with friends and family of Villa legend Gary Shaw, after he died yesterday," Prince William wrote on his social media account.

Prince William Gives Award

Prince William made many moments before the Aston Villa vs Bayern Munich match. He had uploaded a photo of him with Gary Shaw on his X account.

"For 42 years later, our 1982 Champions League winner legend was here on a historic night for Aston Villa."

"Ready for the first game at home on European adventure this year. #UTV (Up the Villa)," he wrote accompanying the photo.

In addition, the day before the historic match, Prince William also gave awards at Windsor Castle to football stars, including former Scottish Player Ally McConist.

McConis, who received the Order of the British Empire (OBE) award, said the two spoke of football, including the Aston Villa match in Europe.

"I am clearly aware that the Prince is a fan of Aston Villa. They will face a very, very big match."

"So, we talked about that. In general, we work in broadcasting and living," McConis said on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, local time.

Then, former England national team player Karen Carney, who was also appointed OBE, said she had joked with Prince William.

As is known, Carney is a supporter of Villa rivals, Birmingham City.

"Honestly, many people know that I am a fan of Birmingham City. There was a big game at Aston Villa tonight," Carney said at the time.

"Of course because Prince William is a Villa fan. I think there is a good opportunity to joke with him."

"He's very friendly, he's going to the game, and it's cool. So, we're chatting about football which I think is common language for everyone."

"I think everyone can talk about football and it's great. I've met him before at Lionesses. He's a fan of men's and women's football. It's really cool," Carney said again.

Earlier this year, Prince William was also seen encouraging the England national team at Euro 2024.
