Petrindo Develops Metalurgi Batra Stone
JAKARTA - PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi Tbk (Petrindo) through its subsidiaries, PT Multi Tambangjaya Utama (MUTU) and PT Daya Bumindo Karunia (DBK), have started the production process of metalurgy coal (metalllurgical coal) or coding coal.
This adds to the diversification of the delivery of Petrindo products that previously only produced thermal coal or steam coal.
"In accordance with our business development strategy, Petrindo through MUTU is working on the existing operational area by starting to produce metalurgical coal," said Director of Petrindo Daniel Laurente, in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, October 3.
Metallurgical coal is a raw material used for the process of making kokas. Kokas is one of the main materials used for the iron and steel smelting industry.
MUT's production of metallurgical coal began in August 2024, with the first shipment to buyers in September.
Meanwhile, DBK will start the first cut process this year, with a projected commercial production in 2025.
Metallurgical coal has a high carbon content which has certain characteristics to produce kokas.
Kokas is produced by way of heating metalurgi coal in the oven at conditions of non-air reduction at very high temperatures. The resulting Kokas from coal heating is porous, hard and only consists of carbon concentration.

"In Indonesia, there are not many metalurgi coal producers, so it will increase Petrindo's advantage in this sector and provide added value to our customers," said Daniel.
Petrindo acquired MUTU in early 2024. Acquisition of share ownership in MUTU is a fundamental component of Petrindo's long-term strategy, which aims to improve operational performance to be more efficient and effective by integrating operations and strengthening Petrindo's business portfolio in high-calorie thermal coal and coal metalurgy.
