Derby Romero Challenged To Javanese Kromo Inggil In The Forbidden Camp

JAKARTA - Derby Romero tells about his character in the latest film for the production house Rapi Films entitled The Forbidden Camp where he plays Mas Heru.

Derby said that in the film, which was uploaded from a real incident in Yogyakarta 2016, the character was not told in detail, but the original figure did exist.

"Here, actually I'm a liar, yes, in the forbidden Camp. So actually Mas Heru, I've met the real thing. So, actually, Mas Heru's character is a character from a resource person, Mas Wahid, it's not explained from the start who Mas Wahid's resource person is, but in the story, there is indeed this Mas Heru figure," said Derby Romero in Kuningan area, South Jakarta,

From the start Derby was already interested in the background of the characters offered so he accepted this horror film project.

"From the start, it happened that when the character was offered, I was very interested in the script, then I told Gita, Gita also had a background character, Mas Heru's history actually made it easier for Gita and me to design her character," he added.

During the shooting process, Derby also enjoyed playing the character Mas Heru, which for him was quite complex.

"And playing Heru in my opinion is really fun because in my opinion, he is one of the quite complex characters where at first he was looked up with his younger siblings and coincidentally, he was actually the youngest," he explained.

"So it's really fun to play character because he has character dimensions that I think are quite strong," he explained.

However, one of the challenges that he must feel is in the language, where he must be able to have a dialogue using the Javanese language or inggil chromo.

"And indeed this is a character that I think has a lot of challenges starting from character as well as Javanese. Because here I have to be able to speak Indonesian with Jogja accents, everyday Javanese and inggil chromo," he said.

Fortunately, he was able to overcome this difficulty with the help of friends from Jogja and from other players. "I happened to be very lucky from the prep to production, I was very much helped, taught Javanese everyday from my friends from Jogja and my acting coach and at the location I was very grateful to Mas Wahid and of course uncle who taught me a lot of inggil chromo," he said.
