Israel Kills Hamas Militant In West Bank Of Ex-convict Imprisoned For Life

JAKARTA - Israel has reportedly killed Abdel-Aziz Salha, a West Bank Hamas militant who was jailed for life but deported to Gaza in a prisoner swap.

As reported by Reuters on Thursday, October 3, Salha was killed in an Israeli airstrike in a tent inside the Al-Aklouk School, which houses Palestinian refugees, in Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip in the morning, medics said.

The 2000 incident occurred in Ramallah in the West Bank, where reserve forces were arrested at a Palestinian checkpoint, taken to police stations and attacked by the masses.

The incident came after the funeral of a 17-year-old Palestinian teenager who was killed by Israeli fire, and two weeks after several other Palestinians were killed in the West Bank.

Salha was arrested by Israel in 2001 and sentenced to life imprisonment.

He was released along with more than 1,000 other Palestinians in the exchange of October 2011 with Hamas with the Israeli army Gilad Shalit, who has been detained for five years in Gaza.
