Polisi Setapkan Manager RS Mata Makassar Tersangka Pelecehan Staf Perempuan

Makassar Police have finally named the manager of the Mata Hospital as a suspect on suspicion of sexual harassment of his victim as a female hospital staff.

"For now, the perpetrator is a suspect. The initials are AC, according to the report. He is the direct supervisor of the victim himself," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Makassar Polrestabes Kompol Devi Sujana as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 3.

The determination of the suspect, said Devi, was carried out after a series of investigations, including the examination of the victim with the initials RT aged 24 years and witnesses, CCTV footage, and examination of the reported person.

"We have checked CCTV, then witnesses too. And we have examined the victim to a psychiatrist to observe her psyche, because the victim felt pressured by the incident," he said.

From a series of examinations by PPA investigators, and according to the report, the status has been raised from the investigation stage to an investigation to the person concerned.

The incident of alleged harassment of the victim was on Saturday, October 21, 2024.

The perpetrator allegedly harassed the victim by touching sensitive parts of his body and even inviting him to have sex. In addition, the victim was previously suspected of having experienced the first abuse in May 2024.

Because the victim could not stand the suspect's actions, he immediately reported the incident to the Makassar Police PPA unit with his family for legal action.

From the reports that came in, the perpetrator was a manager in the general part of the hospital and had abused him twice. The summons in question has been made after being named a suspect.

"The old victim just reported, maybe because there was shame, fear, something happened to him. Usually it's from the victim himself because he's in the work environment, so he doesn't report it right away. So, it took a long time to collect the courage to report it," he said.

For the suspect's actions, he was charged with Article 6C of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS) and Article 289 of the Criminal Code concerning Obscenity.

The victim is currently undergoing psychological assistance because he felt pressured after the incident and received counseling assistance from the Makassar City Government's UPTD PPA.

Until now, there has been no official statement or response from the hospital regarding the alleged harassment case, and how the status of the reported suspect is whether he is still employed or still retained to work at the eye hospital.
