Sales Of Motorcycles In Indonesia Reach 4.34 Million Units Even Though The Economy Is Sluggish
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said that Indonesia had again experienced deflation for five consecutive months from May-September 2024. However, in the midst of increasingly pressing economic challenges, motorcycle sales in Indonesia continued to soar until August 2024.
According to data from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), motorcycle sales from January to August recorded an increase of 3.1 percent compared to the previous year.
"Although the economic situation is less supportive, the motorcycle market has still grown 3.1 percent. As of this year, YoY's sales have reached 4.34 million units," said AISI General Chair Johannes Loman, at the 2024 IMOS press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, October 3.
He added that this achievement proves that motorcycles are still the main choice of the Indonesian people as an efficient and affordable mode of transportation.
"This shows that motorcycles are efficient transportation solutions for the community. Moreover, this growth is also supported by solid and trusted financing companies," he added.
