IDX Boss Aims For 100 Carbon Exchange Service Users By The End Of 2024

JAKARTA - President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Iman Rachman is targeting 100 Indonesian carbon exchange service users by the end of 2024. As of October 2024, it is recorded that users of carbon exchange services have reached 81 users.

"We are targeting 100 to the end of the year. Now it's 81," he said when met by media crews at the Indonesia Stock Exchange Building, Thursday, October 3.

Iman said, although the age of the Indonesian Carbon Exchange is still very young, in terms of achievement, it has shown very positive developments. Evidently, during the year of its establishment, there were 1.7 million CO2e carbon units registered on the carbon exchange.

The IDX also recorded an increase in the number of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Certificates (SPE-GRK) traded from 459,953 tonnes of CO2e to 613,894 tonnes of CO2e, with transaction values increasing from Rp29.21 billion to Rp37.06 billion. Of the total transaction volume of 420,029 tonnes of CO2e has been used or retired.

"Since September 26, 2023, carbon service users have increased, from the beginning 16 service users registered, currently there are 81," continued Iman.

Iman also reported that during the year of operation, there are currently three SPE-GRK projects that have been recorded at IDX Carbon, namely the Pertamina Geothermal Lahendong project, PLTGU in Muara Karang owned by PLN, and PLTM on Mount Wugul belonging to the PLN group.
