Riau Islands Prosecutor's Office Receives SPDP Case 11 Police Former Members Of The Narcotics Unit Of The Barelang Police

The Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati Kepri) received a Notice of Investigation Commencement (SPDP) for a drug-related crime involving 11 former members of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police.

"The Riau Islands Prosecutor's Office has received SPDP from the Regional Police on September 6, 2024," said Head of the Riau Islands Prosecutor's Office, Bagus Irawan, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 2.

He said the Riau Islands Regional Police handed over SPDP for 11 suspects, each with the initials AMS, WRK, IM, R, JS, SS, F, JG, AC, SN and A.

"The eleven suspects are suspected of violating Article 114 paragraph (2) or Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics," he said.

After the SPDP was received, he said, the Riau Islands Prosecutor's Office immediately appointed a team of public prosecutors who would handle the case.

"A team of professional public prosecutors has been appointed to handle this case," he said.

According to the SOP of the Prosecutor's Office, after the SPDP is received, 30 days later the case file is not sent by the investigator, a notification letter will be sent so that investigators send the files of the suspects or P-17.

If 30 days after the first notification letter is sent, he continued, the case files of the suspects will not be sent, then a second notification letter will be sent again.

"If 30 days later (a total of 90 days) the case file was not sent by the investigator, the SPDP was returned to the investigator, and the SPDP was removed from the prosecutor's register," he said.

Bagus said that until now his party had not received the submission of case files (phase 1) from investigators to the public prosecutor/ prosecutor.

Separately, the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Zahwany Pandra Arsyad, said that currently investigators were preparing the case files for the 10 suspects, former members of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police, to be immediately transferred to the Riau Islands Attorney General's Office.

"This is completing the file. Currently, even though the SPDP has been sent, investigators are completing all the files," said Pandra.

Pandra also appealed to all parties, be it people who have information related to the case can work together to help investigators to follow up.

"No matter how small, it is very useful for us to disclose so that the jurisdiction of the Riau Islands Police is truly free of drugs," said Pandra.

It is known that the former Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police, Kompol SN, together with his 9 members were processed ethically and criminally in connection with ethical violations and criminal acts of setting aside evidence of methamphetamine weighing 1 kg.
