China Open 2024: Alcaraz Champion After Bend Sinner
JAKARTA Carlos Alcaraz came out as the winner of the 2024 China Open after defeating the defending champion and his tough rivals this year from Italy, Jannik Sinner.
The Spaniard lifted the trophy after rising from behind in the first set to stop his opponent with a score of 6-7(6), 6-4, and 7-6(3) on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, evening WIB.
Alcaraz said after the game that Sinner was a tough opponent who forced him to work hard to win.
"Jannik (Sinner) shows that he is the best player in the world. His level of play is really extraordinary. His game is very quality, both in terms of hit, physical, and mental. He is very great," he said.

Alcaraz are now leading a 6-4 win-loss record over Sinner after winning all three of their clashes in this year's calendar.
Alcaraz's previous two victories over tennis players who are currently ranked first in the world occurred in the semifinals of Indian Wells and Roland Garros 2024, respectively.
The competition between these two players, which may occur over the coming years, has been going on since 2021. However, the result marked the first time one of them has won three games in a row.
"This whole week I played very well in tennis. Maybe sometimes luck sided with me a little in the game."
"However, in general I feel great on the pitch. I also feel great off the pitch with my team," said Alcaraz.
Victory on the hard field of Beijing made Alcaraz the first player to win the ATP 500 title on three surfaces (hard, clay, and grass) in the history of the series since 2009.
The 21-year-old will then join Sinner at the Shanghai Masters.
