TNI Commander Inaugurates 5 Prone Region Support Battalions In Papua
JAKARTA - TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto inaugurated five infantry battalions (yonif) supporting vulnerable areas (PDR) in five Papuan regions, all of which have special tasks to support the government's food security program.
Agus Subiyanto explained that the five Yonifs spread across five regions in Papua would cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture and the local community to grow main food commodities, one of which was rice.
"These Batalions are under the command of the military (kodam) area, there are Kodam XVIII/Kasuari and Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih. This Battalion has specifications for a construction battalion, there is a production battalion. We will carry out agricultural programs in the Papua region and these battalions will help," said the TNI Commander as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 2.
The five Prone Region Yonifs inaugurated today by the TNI Commander include Yonif 801/Ksatria Yuddha Kentswuri based in Keerom Regency, Papua Province; Yonif 802/Wimane Mambe Jaya based in Sarmi Regency, Papua Province.
Next Yonif 803/Nduka Adyatma Yuddha is based in Boven Digoel Regency in South Papua Province; Yonif 804/Dharma Bhakti Asasta Yudha is based in Merauke Regency, South Papua Province; and finally Yonif 805/Ksatria Satya Waninggap is based in Sorong, Southwest Papua.

In the data compiled by ANTARA at the location, the strength of each Yonif 801 was strengthened by 691 soldiers, 450 of whom were imported from Kodam III/Siliwangi and 150 from Kodam I/Bukit Barisan, then Infantry Battalion 802 was also strengthened by 691 soldiers, 350 of whom were imported from Kodam Jaya, 150 from Kodam II/Sriwijaya, and 100 from Kodam Iskandar Muda.
Furthermore, Yonif 803 was strengthened by 691 soldiers, including those imported from 230 Kodam V/Brawijaya, 25 soldiers from Kodam VI/Mulawarman, 225 soldiers from Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin, 100 soldiers from Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih, and 20 people from Kodam XVIII/Kasuari.
Yonif 804 was strengthened by 691 soldiers, 400 of whom were imported from Kodam IV/Diponegoro, 43 soldiers from Kodam XII/Tanjungpura, 157 soldiers from Kodam XIII/Merdeka.
Finally, Yonif 805 was also strengthened by 691 soldiers, of whom 306 were Kodam IX/Udayana and 294 of them were from Kodam XVI/Pattimura.
