The Ministry Of Industry Asks For Plans For The Transfer Of Imported Goods Ports To Be Continued In The Prabowo Government Era
The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is pushing for plans to move the port of imported goods outside Java to continue in the next era of government, Prabowo Subianto.
This step was taken to increase domestic market demand.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry Febri Hendri Antoni Arif said, to increase domestic market demand, it needs to be supported by several policies, such as the revision of the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 8 of 2024 concerning Policy and Regulation of Imports and Shifts of Imported Goods Ports to Outside Java.
"For example, the Permendag 8/2024 was revised, we revised it so that the domestic market demand could rise again, yes. And then we also tightened the entry port changes, import ports," said Febri when met by reporters at Kota Kasablanka Mall, South Jakarta, Wednesday, October 2.
Febri said that the decision to transfer the import goods port needs to be discussed in a limited meeting (Ratas) with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his staff.
However, until now his party has not received information on the certainty that it will be held.
He also encouraged the plan to be carried out in the next government, Prabowo Subianto.
Even so, Febri has not received any information regarding the certainty that the plan has been submitted to the Prabowo team or not.
However, he stressed, the importance of moving the import goods port as an effort to accelerate domestic market demand.
"It's better if (continued in the Prabowo era), yes, because it will be a booster. In the Transitional team I don't know the information yet, yes, but in our opinion that's what's important to do to increase domestic demand, especially for the seven sectors. Textile industry, finished clothes, accessories, footwear, bags, electronics and the cosmetics industry, that's it," said Febri.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said that the proposed transfer of imported goods ports was still in the study stage.
He said this proposal had been submitted to the next government transition team.
However, continued Zulhas, the plan to move the port of imported goods has not been discussed in a more in-depth manner.
"There has been a proposal, right. However, it has not been discussed (individually). We, right, can no longer decide on a strategic one, let alone a new proposal. Later, it will be, a new government," he said.
