Accused By The Minister Of Transportation As A Fan Of The Expensive Airline Ticket Prices, BPH Migas Opens Up

JAKARTA - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) has opened its voice on accusations by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi that BPH Migas is one of the causes of the high ticket price for domestic aircraft.

Responding to this, Member of the BPH Migas Committee, Saleh Abdurrahman firmly denied the allegations. Saleh emphasized that in practice, BPH Migas always adheres to the Business Competition Act no. 5 of 1999 concerning the prohibition of monopolistic practices and unfair business competition.

"BPH Migas takes into account the principles of healthy, transparent, and business competition in accordance with the regulated provisions," he said when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, October 2.

Saleh said, BPH Migas also has a regulation that opens market access for business actors who meet the requirements in providing avtur.

The oraran tersebut tertuang dalam Peraturan BPH Migas No.13/P/BPH Migas/IV/2008.

He ensured that this regulation had provided various cooperation options, including in the form of co-mingling and the use of joint storage facilities that were open to all eligible business actors.

For this reason, Saleh emphasized that the Indonesian aviation fuel market is open and not as the Minister of Transportation has accused that sales of avtur in Indonesia are much different when compared to other countries that adopt a multiprovider system.

Saleh detailed that currently, business entities that already have an avtur product commercial business license other than Pertamina, there are also PT AKR Corporindo Tbk, PT Dirgantara Petroindo (AKR-BP) and PT Fajar Putra Indo.

"The explanation above shows that the avtur market in Indonesia is open and multiprovider," said Saleh.
