Electricity Tariffs In Quarter IV Do Not Increase, PLN Ensures Electricity Is Still Reliable

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has decided whether the electricity tariff in the fourth quarter (October-December) in 2024 for 13 groups of non-subsidized customers will change or not.

PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo said, PLN is ready to support the Government's decision to maintain electricity tariffs to maintain the community's economy. PLN is also committed to maintaining the quality of service by presenting reliable electrical energy.

"PLN is ready to support the fulfillment of electricity supply to drive the wheels of the community's economy. Electricity is now not only a means of lighting but also plays a vital role in people's lives," said Darmawan, Wednesday, October 2.

Darmawan explained, in addition to meeting electricity supply, PLN at the same time continues to strive to maintain operational efficiency and costs to support the smooth running of business processes. On the other hand, PLN also actively continues to increase electricity sales and presents various promos and attractive incentives for the community.

"PLN is committed to supporting the provision of reliable and affordable electrical energy to maintain the level of inflation and industrial competitiveness. On the other hand, PLN will also continue to increase efficiency efforts and increase electricity sales," concluded Darmawan.

For information, as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 7 of 2024 concerning Electricity Tariffs Provided by PT PLN (Persero), that the adjustment of electricity tariffs for non-subsidized customers is carried out every 3 months referring to changes to the realization of macroeconomic parameters, namely: exchange rate, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and reference coal prices (HBA).

The Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jisman P. Hutajulu, said that the macroeconomic parameters of the fourth quarter of 2024 used the realization from May to July 2024, which accumulated the impact of macroeconomic changes should have led to an increase in electricity rates.

"Based on the four parameters, electricity tariff adjustments for non-subsidized customers should have increased compared to tariffs in the third quarter of 2024. However, in order to maintain people's purchasing power and industrial competitiveness at this time, the Government has decided that electricity rates will not change or remain," said Jisman.
