JAKARTA - The DPD inaugural Plenary Session with the DPD Leadership Election agenda approved two candidates for the DPD Chair for the 2024-2029 period, namely La Nyalla Mattalitti, against Sultan B Najamudin.

"Determinated as a candidate for DPD RI leadership from the results of verification, there are two candidates for leadership packages," said Deputy Chairperson of the DPD Larasati Moriska as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 1.

The mechanism for the DPD RI Leadership Election is carried out with a leadership package system. The first candidate packages are the candidate candidates for DPD RI La Nyalla Mattalitti and three candidates for Deputy Chairperson of the DPD RI, namely Nono Sampono, Elviana, and Andi Muh Ihsan.

Meanwhile, the second candidate package is the candidate for Chairman of the DPD Sultan B Najamudin and three candidates for Deputy Chair of the DPD, namely GKR Hemas, Yorrys Raweyai, and Tamsil Linrung.

Larasati also said that the two leadership package candidates had met the requirements for support from DPD members who came from four sub-regionals in Indonesia.

The support has also been verified by the interim leadership of the DPD accompanied by witnesses from the two candidates.

Based on the DPD Order, the two approved DPD RI candidate packages cannot resign, so they need to follow the election process until the final stage.

La Nyalla Mattalitti is the chairman of the DPD for the previous period, namely 2019-2024. Meanwhile, Sultan B Najamudin was previously the Deputy Chairperson of the DPD who accompanied La Nyalla during that period.
