US Government Provides Dozens Of Starlinks To Restore Communications In North Carolina

JAKARTA On September 30, the White House stated that dozens of Starlink systems had provided high-speed internet access in North Carolina, an area destroyed by Hurricane Helene.

Although dozens of systems have been deployed, the US government has delivered more than 100 Starlinks in addition. According to a Reuters report, hundreds of these fast internet access will be sent to various areas that have been destroyed or severely affected.

The Helene storm is a tropical storm in category 4 which is very dangerous because its speed reaches 225 kilometers per hour. This natural disaster damaged 804 kilometers of the region on Thursday, September 26. Reportedly, the death toll has reached 100 people.

The communication network in North Carolina was also disrupted so the US government needed to provide internet access. However, before news about the delivery of Starlink was delivered by the White House, former US President Donald Trump revealed that Starlink was not there yet.

As an initiative, Trump explained that he had spoken to Elon Musk, the owner of SpaceX who operates Starlink. Trump wants to provide communication networks for the entire community affected by Hurricane Helene.

"I just spoke to Elon," Trump said on the same day. "We want to connect Starlink because they don't have any communication and Elon will always come. We will try and connect Starlink there as soon as possible."

Shortly after Trump voiced his wish, a White House spokesman confirmed that the provision of the Starlink network had been carried out. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) also revealed that the Starlink network that is currently available in North Carolina has reached 40 networks.

With 140 additional networks, the US government will provide 180 Starlinks in total. FEMA added that the majority of Starlink networks are provided to help restore communications infrastructure in North Carolina.
