The KPK Asks For The Asset Confiscation Bill To Be A Priority For The DPR For The 2024-2029 Period

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) hopes that members of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2024-2029 period who were sworn in today, Tuesday, October 1, will further strengthen efforts to eradicate corruption. The Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU) was asked to be a priority.

"Through the legislative function, the KPK hopes that the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill will be a priority for discussion in the DPR," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, October 1.

Tessa said the Asset Confiscation Bill is important. Thus, the refund of state money enjoyed by corruptors can be maximized and effective.

"KPK has high hopes for DPR members for the 2024-2029 period who have been inaugurated to strengthen the eradication of corruption," he said.

Furthermore, the spokesman with the investigator's background reminded legislators who were appointed to carry out their duties in integrity. "So that every political process in the preparation of public policies and supervision is for the benefit of the people and avoiding corrupt practices," said Tessa.

As previously reported, as many as 580 members of the DPR RI and 152 members of the DPD RI elected for the 2024-2029 period will be sworn in on Monday, October 1. A total of 732 members of the MPR RI will be sworn in at the Nusantara MPR/DPR/DPD RI building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 1, at 09.30 WIB.

The inauguration will be attended by President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. The event took place after the Indonesian KPU announced that DPR members, DPD, the youngest MPR RI to the oldest.
