31 Students In Jakarta Arrested With Dozens Of Sickles And Hard Water

JAKARTA - A total of 31 students in Jakarta were arrested by the Central Jakarta Metro Police Precision Team because they were caught carrying a number of sharp weapons of the sickle type, Monday night, September 30. Dozens of school students in Jakarta also have bottles filled with hard water and firecrackers.

Dozens of students were arrested while gathering in the North Gunung Sahari area, Central Jakarta, on Monday night at around 22.30 WIB. The group of students has prepared themselves for a brawl.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro said the arrests began when the police received information from the public about a group of students trying to fight.

Based on the report, the police immediately responded by deploying a team to the scene of the incident with members of the Sawah Besar Police.

When they arrived at the scene, the police found the students riding motorbikes and carrying various sharp weapons, firecrackers, and other dangerous materials.

"17 sharp weapons, 1 firecracker, 1 golf club, 1 iron crossbar and 2 bottles filled with hard water were confiscated as evidence," said Kombes Susatyo when confirmed, Tuesday, October 1.

In addition, the police also secured 25 units of cellphones belonging to students and 20 motorbikes that were used as their means of transportation.

"It is hoped that parents will take care of and educate their children not to get the wrong association, if they come out at midnight to be reprimanded and prohibited from fighting or using drugs that can damage the future of the younger generation," he said.

Currently, the Central Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim is conducting an in-depth investigation regarding the motive for this brawl plan. Moreover, related to the discovery of various sharp weapons and hard water carried by students.

The case is still being handled by the Central Jakarta Metro Police. The students from Jakarta are still being held at the Central Jakarta Metro Police for further investigation.

Previously, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said that he had revoked KJP Plus for two students involved in the brawl. The KJP recipients who were revoked were PKBM Negeri 16 students and SMP Negeri 28.

Based on the results of the search by the DKI Jakarta Education Office and parents' confessions, the two students were proven to have participated in a brawl in the Johar Baru area, Central Jakarta.

"Yesterday there were 2 fights, the KJP was revoked. Don't fight, study properly, we urge you. If in Jakarta the school is free, just go to school," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, July 27.

Heru asked all school principals and teachers to always remind students to avoid brawls. Parental supervision to community leaders in the home environment, according to Heru, is also needed.
