Polda Metro Will Check Alexander Marwata Regarding Meeting With Ex-Head Of Yogyakarta Customs

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya will examine Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata in investigating alleged violations of meetings with litigants, namely the former Head of Yogyakarta Customs Eko Darmanto.

Alexander Marwata is said to have met Eko Darmanto in March 2023.

"Surely the person concerned (Alexander Marwata) will be invited to clarify or be questioned by the Investigation Team of the Tipidkor Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak to VOI, Tuesday, October 1.

However, it was not conveyed in detail about when the examination of Alexander Marwata would be carried out.

So far, Ade only said that his party was still investigating or looking for additional information from witnesses who knew about the alleged meeting.

It is recorded that 19 witnesses and experts have been pocketed by their statements in the investigation of the case.

"Among them have been clarified to Eko Darmanto's brother, several Indonesian KPK employees, Itjen Kemenkeu RI and have been coordinated with experts, which include criminal law experts and criminal procedural law experts," said Ade.

Meanwhile, the alleged criminal act committed by Alexander Marwata is a direct or indirect relationship committed by the KPK leadership with a suspect or other party who is related to a corruption case handled by an anti-corruption agency.

During the meeting, the KPK was investigating Eko Darmanto in a case of alleged gratification and money laundering (TPPU).
