MUI: Never Stop In Israel's Product Boycott Movement

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) invites the Indonesian people not to get bored in supporting the Palestinian independence struggle, through the boycott movement of Israeli products and all affiliated.

"Never stop in the boycott movement. Because the genocide there also does not stop. Therefore, our task continues to echo the boycott movement of Israeli products and all affiliated ones," said MUI Chairman for Da'wah and Ukhuwah MUI M Cholil Nafis through his official statement, Antara, Monday, September 30.

The campaign invitation in boycotting various Israeli products, he said, was to open the eyes of the Indonesian people regarding the conditions that occurred in the past year in Palestine, where many children and women were also victims of the Israeli attack on Palestine.

As noted by health authorities in Gaza recently, they said nearly 45,000 Gazans had died in the past year, most of whom were children and women.

The fully supported Israeli war machines of America and Europe to this day, he said, have destroyed small territories in southern Palestine, injuring more than 100,000 people and forcing more than 2 million of their population to live in refugee tents.

"We help Palestine according to their respective abilities. In essence, this is a matter of our humanity together and therefore we must not remain silent," he said.

In addition, Cholil also hopes that information related to the boycott of Israeli products and all affiliated products can continue to echo and become a trend in society, including on social media.

What is important in this boycott movement, we all have the same standing position, namely defending Palestine. Our obligation is to fight. Whether it is successful or not, that is the will of Allah SWT," he said.

He continued that the boycott movement of Israeli and affiliated products already has a legitimate foothold, as stated in the MUI Fatwa and institutional recommendations for Muslims to switch to using local products.

This is stated in the MUI Fatwa Number 83 concerning the Law of Support for the Palestinian Struggle which asserts that supporting Israel's aggression against Palestine is haram.

Another surge in boycotting Israeli products is also stated in the MUI Fatwa Number 14/Ijtima' Ulama/VIII/2024 concerning Priority for the Use of Domestic Products, MUI encourages Indonesian Muslims to participate in reviving the national economy by consuming local products and avoiding all products affiliated or imported directly from Israel.

Not only that, MUI's firmness in carrying out this campaign can also be seen from the release of a number of criteria for Israeli affiliated products that need to be boycotted. One of them is a boycott of company products whose shares are controlled by foreign parties who have business ties to Israel.

The boycott was also imposed on the company's main controlling products having a political stance in favor of the Israeli genocide and aggression against the Palestinians.

MUI also appealed to people to challenge their consumption of products produced by companies that promote everything that is contrary to the noble values of religion, Pancasila, and the 1945 Constitution, including homosexuality, terrorism, and ultraliberalism.

"This boycott movement must continue. This is clear evidence as well as a clear commitment among Muslims that Indonesia is loyal to support and continues to help realize Palestinian independence," he said.

For this reason, his party is always to campaign for two fatwas related to the boycott of Israeli products even though some parties consider the boycott movement to be relaxed in the community.

The MUI did not catch a cold, although there were many winds that came to shake MUI's commitment to boycott Israeli products and all affiliated. As long as the practice of humanitarian colonialism still occurs in Palestine, we will never stop fighting for Palestinian independence," he said.
