Alexander Marwata Confused The Issue Of Eko Darmanto's Meeting Again Appearing
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata was confused about his meeting with the former Head of Yogyakarta Customs Eko Darmanto again until he was investigated by the Polda Metro Jaya. He said this issue was not a new item and he had given an explanation.
Meanwhile, Eko Darmanto has now been sentenced to six years in the case of gratification and money laundering (TPPU). He was charged with the anti-corruption commission after showing off his assets or flexing on social media and ended up in the spotlight of netizens.
(Meeting with Eko Darmanto, ed) is an old issue. I once gave a response. I don't know why it was raised again," Alexander told reporters quoted on Monday, September 30.
Alexander then agreed that he had met Eko. However, he denied that the meeting took place after the investigation into alleged gratification and money laundering was carried out by the KPK.
"Meeting (with Eko Darmanto, ed) before there was an investigation warrant. So there is no case yet," he said.
He also explained that he met Eko at the office and was with other people. "The meeting was accompanied by two staff and the knowledge of the other leadership," said the former judge.
"As a result of the meeting, I conveyed it to the leadership and structural at the meeting. So all the leaders and structural officials know about the meeting," continued Alexander
Previously reported, KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata was policed regarding his alleged meeting with the former Yogyakarta Customs Chief Eko Darmanto. Polda Metro Jaya is conducting an investigation.
"The investigation that is currently being carried out by the investigation team of the Tipidkor Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya is in order to find and find an incident suspected of being a criminal act," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak to reporters, Friday, September 27.

The alleged criminal acts in question are direct or indirect relationships committed by the KPK leadership with suspects or other parties related to corruption cases handled by anti-corruption agencies.
Ade said the meeting between the two was suspected to have occurred in March 2023. The investigation was carried out starting with a public complaint (dumas) which was then investigated.
