Monday Morning, Central KPU Chair And Members Undergo DKPP Trial
JAKARTA - Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Mochammad Afifudin and five of his members underwent a trial at the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) on Monday 30 September at 09.00 WIB.
The agenda for this trial is the examination of alleged ethical violations committed by the KPU commissioner regarding the election of the district KPU which is suspected of being affiliated with political parties (parpol).
DKPP Secretary David Yama said his party was also examining members of East Lombok Regency, in Jakarta, on Monday, 09.00 WIB.
In a written statement in Jakarta, last Sunday, it was stated that the trial for the examination of alleged violations of the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP) case number 158-PKE-DKPP/VII/2024.
He mentioned the complainants over Muhammad Ali Akbar who gave power to Tafsir Marodi and Riyan Bimanesh. Ali Akbar Afifudin, Betty Epsilon Idroos, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik, August Mellaz (chairman and KPU member) as Defendants II to VII, and Zainul Muttaqin who is a member of the KPU of East Lombok Regency as Defendant VIII.
"The main complaint points from the Complaints are Defendant II until Defendant VII passes and inaugurates Defendant VIII, who is suspected of being the active administrator of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP)," said David.
Although Zainul is suspected of being a party administrator, the chairman and members of the KPU still pass the selection process for candidates for members of the East Lombok Regency KPU for the period 2024-2029.
David explained that in the DKPP trial, he would listen to statements from the parties, both complainants, defendants, witnesses, and related parties.
DKPP has also summoned the parties properly in accordance with the provisions of Article 22 paragraph (1) of DKPP Regulation Number 3 of 2017 concerning Guidelines for Certifying the Code of Ethics for Election Organizers as amended lastly by DKPP Regulation Number 1 of 2022.
"The DKPP Secretariat has properly summoned all parties, namely five days before the examination hearing is held," said David.

He emphasized that the trial was open to the public so that the general public who wanted to monitor or the media who wanted to cover the trial could see firsthand the proceedings of the trial. "For people who want to attend or journalists who want to cover, please attend before the trial starts," he said.
David added, to facilitate public access to the proceedings, this trial will also be broadcast live through the official DKPP YouTube and Facebook accounts.
