Extreme Floods In Nepal, 112 People Killed And 68 Reported Missing
JAKARTA - At least 112 people have died and 68 people have been missing due to the devastating floods in Nepal caused by the heaviest rain in 54 years, according to a report by Nepal's newspaper The Kathmandu Post on Sunday, September 29.
As of Saturday night, the local Interior Ministry officially confirmed 99 deaths, 68 missing, and 100 injured.
Floods and landslides have disrupted many highways and road access across the country, causing hundreds of houses and bridges to be buried or swept away, and forcing hundreds of families to flee, the newspaper reported.
In addition, the news also added that thousands of passengers were trapped in various locations due to road disturbances.
Authorities continue to carry out search and rescue operations, involving more than 20,000 security officers across the country, stating that there may be other casualties in the disaster-affected areas.

On Saturday, the country's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported that the Kathymandu Valley received 240 millimeters of rain in 24 hours.
That figure is the highest rainfall recorded in the capital since 1970.
