Heavy Rain Guyur Samarinda Sunday Afternoon, BPBD: 40 Flood Points

SAMARINDA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Samarinda City, East Kalimantan, reported that heavy rains that flushed the city since Sunday, September 29, had caused flooding at 40 points, with an average water level of 20 to 40 centimeters.

Head of BPBD Samarinda Suwarso, said that his party continues to monitor the current situation regarding the impact of heavy rains that occurred from 13.00 WITA to 15.30 WITA.

"The heavy rains that occurred today caused flooding in a number of areas in Samarinda. We continue to monitor the situation and coordinate with volunteers and related agencies to provide assistance to affected residents," said Suwarso, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, September 29.

Some areas affected by the flood include Jalan Kartini Lempake, Jalan Pramuka, Jalan Perjuangan Sempaja, Jalan Wahab Syahrani 4, Jalan Wahid Hasyim II, Jalan Padat Karya Sempaja-Simpang Wanyi, Jalan HM. Ardan Simpang SMA 1, Jalan Suryanata Simpang Kadrioning, and Jalan Suryanata Kampung Pinang.

Until now, he said, there have been no reports of damage to public facilities, landslides, or fallen trees due to flooding. However, BPBD Samarinda still urges the public to be vigilant and avoid flood-inundated areas.
