Mandalika 2024 MotoGP Results: Jorge Martin Secures Podium, Bagnaia Follows In Third Position
JAKARTA - Prima Pramac Racing racer Jorge Martin managed to secure the first podium at the Mandalika MotoGP. In the main race which took place at the Mandalika Circuit, Sunday, September 29 afternoon, Jorge Martin became the fastest with a time of 41 minutes 4.389 seconds.
Jorge Martin trailed Pedro Acosta and Francesco Bagnaia who climbed onto the second and third podiums. While in the fourth and fifth positions there were Franco Morbidelli and Marco Bezzecki, but Marc Marquez's name was thrown from the top five.
During the race, Jorge Martin, who was at the pole position, was immediately followed by Enea Bastianini. But Martin doesn't seem to want to repeat the mistakes made in the Sprint Race session.
A big incident occurred shortly after the start. Still in sector one of the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, four riders crashed.
Aleix Espargaro, Alex Marquez, Jack Miller, and Luca Marini must end their dream of winning points in this race. The yellow flag had flown, but the warning had been lifted when the race entered the third lap.
Meanwhile, Martin, who can lead the race since the start, has not been overtaken. The competition for second place involved Enea Bastianini and Pedro Alcohol.
Bastianini was then overtaken by Franco Morbidelli and Marco Bezzecki. Francesco Bagnaia was stuck in sixth place and competed with Marc Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Hunting for fierce competition in the race for sixth place involved Bagnaia, Marquez, and Di Giannantonio. Marquez and Di Giannantonio even had time to overtake each other in the seventh place.
Had secured the position of Marquez's pursuit, Di Giannantonio then fell when the race entered its eighth lap. Another who kept trying to approach Martin was still adrift of about a second with the race leader.
Meanwhile, Morbidelli, Bezzecchi, and Bastianini trailed by about 1.2 to 1.3 seconds from Aska. Bagnaia began to approach the group of three riders in front of him after passing the 10th lap and leaving Marquez.
Marquez's motorbike then caught fire when the race entered its 11th lap. When Martin and Asko were about 0.6 seconds apart, Morbidelli, Bastianini, Bezzecki were involved in an exciting convoy.
Meanwhile, Bagnaia is a bit behind with a distance of 0.5 seconds from the racer who is fighting for the third position. Bastianini overtook Morbidelli on lap 16.
The Ducati factory team racer immediately tried to shoot up to get close to Askosta who was still following Martin. Like wanting to repeat the dramatic lap story at MotoGP Emilia Romagna last weekend, Bastianini continued to spur motorbikes closer to two riders.
When entering the seventh lap, Bastianini fell. Martin then moved away from the chase by Askosta. A difference of 1.7 seconds was created when there were five laps remaining.
