Police Secure Drugs Worth IDR 75.1 Billion In Lampung
LAMPUNG SELATAN - The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the South Lampung Police (Lamsel), Lampung Police, secured evidence of the crime of drug trafficking of interprovincial networks worth Rp75.1 billion.
South Lampung Police Chief AKBP Yusriandi Yusrin, said the disclosure lasted for four months, from June to September 2024.
"The narcotics evidence confiscated during the operation is estimated to have an economic value of more than Rp75 billion. In addition, this confiscation is considered to have saved more than one million people from the dangers of drug abuse," said Yusriandi, as reported by ANTARA, September 29.
He said the cross-provincial drug trafficking network involved sending narcotics from Sumatra Island to Java and Bali.
"The drugs confiscated came from various regions in Sumatra, such as North Sumatra, Riau, and South Sumatra. These illicit goods are planned to be distributed to several regions in Indonesia, including Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, and Bali," he said.
According to him, the drug case was revealed by the Narcotics Unit at the Seaport Interdiction (SI) location at Bakauheni Port and the police in South Lampung.
"This operation resulted in significant arrests. A total of 61 drug cases were successfully uncovered, with a total of 79 suspects, consisting of 76 men and 3 women. The police also managed to confiscate evidence in the form of 70.24 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 301.15 kg of marijuana, and 10 thousand ecstasy pills," he said.
The suspects arrested are strongly suspected of acting as dealers and couriers in international drug networks. They now have to face the threat of severe punishment in accordance with RI Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
"The threat of a minimum sentence of five years in prison is up to a maximum of 20 years, life imprisonment, or even the death penalty, depending on the role and amount of evidence involved," he said.

He also explained that the disclosure of this case was proof that the South Lampung Police and the Lampung Police continued to try to protect the public from the threat of drugs that damaged the nation's future.
