MPR Leader Officially Submits Gus Dur's Name Recovery Letter, TAP MPR II/2021 No Longer Applicable

JAKARTA - The leadership of the MPR RI invited the family of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) to the National Gathering at the Nusantara V MPR RI Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Sunday, September 29.

The wife of Gus Dur, Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, was present with her four daughters, Zannuba Ariffah Chafsoh or Yenny Wahid, Alissa Qotrunnada Munawaroh, Inayah Wulandari and Anita Hayatunnufus.

During the event, the MPR RI leadership submitted a letter of recommendation for the revocation of TAP MPR Number II / MPR / 2021 concerning the Accountability of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, KH Abdurrahman Wahid. The letter was signed by 10 leaders of the MPR RI.

Based on the agreement, the leadership of the MPR RI agreed to revoke TAP MPR Number II / MPR / 2021 as requested by the PKB Faction. The decision at the same time restores the name of Gus Dur who was accused of corruption during his reign.

"Confirming the MPR Decree Number II / MPR / 2021 concerning the Accountability of the President of the Republic of Indonesia KH Abdurrahman Wahid is currently no longer valid," said Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) before Gus Dur's family at the Nusantara V MPR Building, Sunday, September 29.

The letter of recommendation for the recovery of Gus Dur's name was handed over directly by the Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo together with the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR from the PKB faction Jazilul Fawaid to Sinta Nuriyah.

"We leave the letter to the family of President Abdurrahman Wahid, President Suharto, President-elect Prabowo Subianto," said Bamsoet.

Also present were Deputy Chairperson of the MPR from the PDIP faction Ahmad Basarah, former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, and PKB Secretary General Hasanuddin Wahid.
