Residents' Testimony Heard More Than Once When The Bakamla Building Caught Fire

JAKARTA - A number of residents heard explosions during a fire at the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) building in Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Sunday, September 29 morning.

Anam recounted the beginning when he and other residents wanted to do gymnastics in the building's neighborhood area. When he was about to enter, there was an explosion sound.

"As soon as I was in the bathroom, I heard an explosion. As soon as I got out the residents had started to panic, (put out smoke and fire)," Anam said when met at the location, Sunday, September 29.

Anam claimed to have heard the explosion more than once. Especially when the fire started to grow.

"Ledekan lebih dari sekali," ucapnya.

Even at the time of the incident, he admitted that he did not see anyone leaving the building. However, he heard a voice asking for help from inside the building.

"But there was a voice asking for help from inside," he said.

Until now, firefighters are still extinguishing the fire. A total of 19 and 95 personnel were deployed to speed up the blackout.

"That's right, (currently) 19 units and 95 personnel are deployed," said Head of DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat, Satriadi Gunawan when confirmed, Sunday, September 29.
