Adara Urges Palestinian Issues To Enter The 100 Work Day Agenda Of The Prabowo-Gibran Government

JAKARTA Adara Relief International held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled Indonesian Strategic and Tactical Steps for Gaza to discuss Israel's genocide in Gaza which continues to this day. This FGD was implemented in order to collect recommendations from stakeholders regarding concrete steps that must be taken to stop Israel's genocide in Gaza. This enthusiastic discussion was held in the GBHN Space, Nusantara V of the MPR/DPR RI Building (Friday, 27/09).

Maryam Rachmayani, President Director of Adara Relief International who was also the mainnote speaker at this discussion explained that Adara Relief International as a humanitarian agency for Palestine was moved and called to hold an FGD today.

"Because almost a year old Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, with 70 percent of its victims being children and women," he quoted a written statement, Jakarta, Saturday, September 28.

In order to explore perspectives and formulate strategic and tactical steps in supporting justice and peace in Palestine, Adara invited cross-field figures to this meeting. The speaker ranks consist of the government, academics, community organizations, as well as humanitarian institutions for Palestine.

The main speakers at this activity consisted of Dr. H. Hidayat Nur Wahid, MA (Deputy MPR RI), Ir. Maryam Rachmayani Yusuf, S.Th., MM (President Director of Adara Relief International), Prof. KH Din Syamsuddin (Tokoh Muhammadiyah), Prof. Sudarnoto (Chairman of the MUI Foreign Relations Commission), Usman Hamid (Director of Amnesty International Indonesia), and Ahrul Tsani Fathurrahman (Director of the Middle East Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

Hidayat Nur Wahid reminded that, "The next government must remember that Indonesia is bound by the constitution, because our constitution states that independence is the right of all nations. Indonesia supports Palestinian independence as stated in the opening of the Constitution." In closing, he also stated that Indonesia is not alone, this struggle can be carried out with ASEAN, OKI, the Middle East, and the United Nations.

Experts are also filled with figures who are no less important, including Dr. Muhammad Zaitun Rasmin, Lc., MA (Chairman of Wahdah Islamiyah), Prof. Yon Machmudi (Chairman of the Middle East and Islamic Study Study Program of the University of Indonesia (KTTI UI)), Tomy Hendrajati (President General of the Human Initiative), Dr. Sabriati Aziz (Chairman of the Women's Wings ARI BP), Agung Nurwijoyo, M.Sc. (Secretary General of MINDA), and Oke Setiadi (Chairman of ASPAC for Palestine).

"The focus of Indonesia is the independence of Palestine, not Israel, because the focus on Israel will lead to negotiations that lead to normalization," said Prof. Yon Machmudi. He also added that the Indonesian government needs to form a special Indonesian envoy for Palestine, which is tasked with communicating with related parties to realize Palestinian independence.

This discussion is part of Adara's commitment as a humanitarian institution, to encourage elements of the nation in fighting for the rights of the Palestinian people by prioritizing constructive dialogue to resolve Palestinian issues.

Responding to the recommendations made by the speaker, Ahrul Tsani Fathurrahman said that his party received all input, and continued to look for ways to get aid to Gaza to be sent quickly and on target.

"The government has allocated special funds for distribution to Palestine which are provided in the form of scholarships, living expenses, and basic foods," he said.

Closing the results of the discussion, the figures agreed that the Palestinian issue should be a priority agenda of the legislative and executive institutions in the first 100 days of their work. The forum urges the government to focus on guarding and seeking targeted humanitarian assistance. Indonesia can also optimize its global role through the United Nations, so as to strengthen Indonesia's position in international forums.

"Our hope is that after this FGD, all elements of the nation unite to actively participate in resolving the Palestinian issue. For too long Palestine has been disappointed and ignored by the world, it is time for Indonesia to cover the wounds of the Palestinian people," said Fitriyah Nur Fadilah, Head of the Adara Research Department.
